Solund Light Festival

Workshop and Installation

We contributed for the second edition of this light festival of the small municipality of Hardbakke/Solund with a workshop and installation.

Solund is a coastal village in Norway where fishing and other industries connected to the sea are not only the main source of income for the residents but are also shaping the local culture and are part of their history and heritage.

The children of the local school were asked to write stories about the sea, what it meant for them and what are their memories connected to the sea. All these stories have then been put into bottles and released back to the sea for the 2 night event.

After the festival all the stories have been collected in a small publication and distributed to all the residents as a snapshot in time of what this strong element of the local culture meant for the new generations.
